Thingamablog - Desktop Blogging Tool
Thingamablog is an open source desktop blogging tool. What’s more it is also cross-platform too so should work on just about any platform.
From the minute I installed Thingamablog I was impressed.
Thingamablog runs on your desktop and only needs Java 1.4 or higher installed and FTP access to your web space to upload your blog. It’s also very easy to use once set up - just write your post and publish. It couldn’t be easier as Thingamablog keeps track of changed and new files and uploads what it needs to.
Thingamablog is ideal for anyone who has limited hosting features or a dial-up connection as all the pages generated are static html and do not need remote scripting or databases to work. Posts can be written off-line then uploaded when you connect to the internet. Another cool feature is the built in RSS feed reader so you can keep up with your favourite blogs as you blog.
Ok, so you don’t get all the advanced features like built in comments and trackbacks but you do get a decent blog tool with most of the features you will need including categories, archives, and an RSS feed. If you do need comments and trackback, then there is always a free third party solution such as Haloscan.
For more information and download check out the Thingamablog web site.
