WordPress 2.0 Upgrade
Upgrade Complete
The upgrade to WordPress 2.0 in now complete and all posts, pages and theme downloads are back on-line. Everything went fairly well with very few problems along the way. Obviously when upgrading from Thingamablog there is no “import” available so everything had to be copied and pasted and reposted.
WordPress 2.0 First Impressions
WordPress 2.0, as you would expect is excellent and everything seems to work as it should. Most of the new features are welcome improvements with only one exception. The WYSIWYG editor is awful. I hate it! Thankfully you can turn it off, as I had major problems posting my theme information pages with everything being reformatted after every save.
I can see it may be useful for a quick post but why isn’t there an off button on the Write Post page?
And What’s Next
I have two themes to finish, both are ports of andreas09 by Andreas Viklund. One for Thingamablog and one for WordPress that you can see here on Webgazette.co.uk. The Thingamablog version, that I am calling Bubblegum4TAMB, (demo here) should not be long before it is finished and will probably be posted for download in a day or two. The WordPress version will be a little longer, as there is quite a bit of tinkering still to be done.

I agree, I found the WYSIWYG editor awful!! I wasted so much time trying to get it to work!!

Hi Tom,
Same here. I can see the benefit for the non-technical but I am glad there was an off switch.
It’s the same with most wysiwyg html editors though. Take Front Page for example. Please just take it and never let it return!
Loads of bad code and… Well, I could just go on and on.
