    Hi Karl,

It has taken me far longer than I though to get it working as it should. I now have to set about styling the menu to look nicer and try and make it clear what part of the sub-page menu is active - I think it may be a little confusing!

Hopefully it won’t be too long but I don’t want to promise a date I can’t do.

That’s ok good things need goog time - Thanks!

  5. wrnc Says:

eager to see it implemented at wordpress.com

  6. Karl R. Says:

I see you improved the style!
One question - the leghth of the sub page buttons in you example is always the same.
Is this due the ’same’ Page Title?

But nevertheless if you sub page navigation goes to production
    i will use it!!
it’s very good for a larger amount of sub paged content of a wordpress blog

    Hi,
    just some fine optimisations :

    * the vertical seperator line is a little bit too long
    * a level 2/3/4 button selected does mot markup the complete button

    Greetings
    Karl

    hi
with opera vertical seperator line is correct.
with IE it is not - seems to be some pixels
with firefox it is not - about one pixel - the complete button is positioned some pixel under the baseline

    Greetings

  9. Ainslie Says:

    Slow down there ;-)

    I’m still playing :-)

  10. Aaron Says:

Coolness :) I look forward to the final version.

Really nice implementation of the subpage plugin

  11. Ainslie Says:

I have tidied the page menu a bit. What do you think?

  12. Pal Hivand Says:

Awesome man, and the subpages navigations is something I think is excellent. Keep up the good work.

  13. Andreas Says:

    That looks great!

  14. Karl R. Says:

    fantastic!
The only issue i have is - if you are for example on level 3
and klick on ‘tangerine’ then you do not see (but know) what the parent button and the parent parent button was. So the context in the menue is lost. In your dev case surely we now the complete menu path because of our common knowledge about fruits.

    Greetings
    Karl

  15. Ainslie Says:

    Thanks, all of you.

The current parent can be highlighted but it needs something other than the current page highlight - not sure what yet but I’ll work it out.

    There are two problems:

    1) it looks rubbish in Opera.

    2) the main menu cannot be highlighted as a parent as it is using the original menu. The plug-in in theory should be usable but it does not output valid xhtml. I may yet do some work on the plug-in to sort this out as it needs to highlight parents and children etc.

  16. Ainslie Says:

Ok, I’ve though about it - I’m going to hack the plug-in to see if I can get it to output valid xhmtl when including a link to home and then try and use it for the whole menu. That way the parent highlighting should work on the first level as well.

I also may be able to improve the Opera look as well. Say Andreas, got any tips for styling the menu using display:inline rather than floating it? I seem to have had a few issues so far getting highlights to line up with the li’s

  17. Karsten Says:

I like hot the entire button is pushable in the sub-menu, and not just the text. Any chance on this being implemented in the main theme too?

  18. Calítoe.:. Says:

I like it the way it currently looks…
(IE user here because it is “compulsory” in my work…)
What about sub-sub-categories in the posts (not in the pages)? Is it clear now that they are sub-sub-cateogories?

  19. Ainslie Says:

I haven’t looked at the catogries yet but I think it needs to be clearer that they are sub-sub-categories so I will have a look at that.

  20. wrnc Says:

sounds corny but I recently found out that a lot of surfers do not realize that dark grey words in WP-Andreas 1.5 are links (

  21. wrnc Says:

Darn, I’ve tried to illustrate with some tags and the post ended up as the mess it is above.

Okay, because some obviously do not see links in a post or a comment (because the color is too close to the default font color) maybe a different one would be fine: dark green, or dark brown or matching the theme’s color? Maybe you thought about it.

  22. Ainslie Says:

In the new version all the links are colour matched the the theme colours so this should not happen unless you choose the black variant.

  23. Karl R. Says:

    Wow!
i’v seen that page and sub-page are markupped - that’s a lot better navigation!!
    Karl

  24. Ainslie Says:

I think it still needs the current parent to be different to the current page but I am still working on it.
