CSSVista

CSSVista is a free program that lets you edit CSS code live and see the results in both Firefox and Internet Explorer at the same time. While you can’t save the code that you have edited it has proved invaluable for the occasions when I get a desperate email from somebody who needs help fixing their site.

What you get looks quite unremarkable at first and resembles a very basic browser but hit the edit CSS button and the window splits into CSS code on the left and 2 horizontal views on the right; one for Firefox and the other for Internet Explorer. If you don’t like the spilt view, there is also a tabbed option where each browser has its own tab. The program works very similar to the edit CSS function of the Web Developer Extension for Firefox but better.

One of the best things is that you can browse to any site and view and edit the CSS without doing any damage. This can make for quite a bit of fun hacking away at other peoples stylesheets but of course no damage is actually done and it can be a good learning tool.

CSSVista is still in beta at version 0.1 but version 0.15 is on its way and expected sometime soon.
