Which Blog Software

I decided to use WordPress because it was popular, seems easy to use and millions of users can’t be wrong. Right?

WordPress works well and seems to do everything that blog software should. It’s is easy to use and there’s plenty of help available for when things don’t work, but is it the right choice for you?

For me it seems perfect. It’s also free but there are many other choices that may do the job just as well. A quick Google for blog software brings up over 250,000,000 hits. Wow, that could take some time to sort through but I suspect there will be an awful lot of bad links in that list.

Fortunately there’s a website that has already done a lot of the work and has a list of blog software to choose from. OpenSourceCMS lists 16 blog tools:

That is quite a list, and there is a whole load of other software for running a website from content management systems to wikis.

Fortunately OpenSourceCMS also provide a demo of each tool so you can check them out without having to download each one and install it.

Great site - check it out!

I know the site and spent many hours there :-) My choice: WordPress and Serendipity. And Thingamablog too, of course.

A great one not on the list is sNews, solucija.com

WordPress is awesome. . .but sometimes I feel overloaded with features using it. . .

I’ve heard of that site on the WP channel. I used WP because Viper007Bond told me about it :P Saying that I’m glad he did, it’s worked out great.
