New WordPress Theme on the Way

I’ve started to work on a new WordPress theme from the Multiflex-3 template (demo on TODC) by Wolfgang.

I’m not promising to be quick, as there will be a few difficulties keeping browser compatibility with the horizontal menu but watch this space if you are interested.

If anyone knows how I can customise the WordPress wp_list_pages function to include some conditional IE statements please get in touch.

    Good news :-)
Count me in for the german translation.

I like the Multiflex template series, but didn’t find many versions for blog or CMS systems. It seems to be a rather complex template.

What kind of customizing do you have in mind for the list_pages function? Maybe it can be done by creating a plugin?

    Hi Tim,

I have sent you an email about the page menu.

Yes the template is complicated but it should make a good theme. My idea is version 1 will be a basic theme as the demo and then look at adding options for the header layout as Wolfgang has done ;-)

And of course it will be prepared for localisation so thanks for your offer of a German translation.

Hello, I am the original author of Multiflex. Ainslie, feel free to forget those drop-down menus, if you think they make too much trouble for the WordPress porting. Maybe a Multiflex WordPress without drop-down menu is better than no WordPress Multiflex at all. Anyway, wish you great luck in your undertaking. Feel free to contact me any time!

Yes, I realize that my templates are a bit too complicated for the average user ande more apppealing to those who know about webdesign already. I plan to come out with a new series in future, called “Easyflex” (or something along those lines), which will be a simple straightforward variant of the Multiflex series for those who prefer to go on the easy side and have a more streamlined template at hand.

    Hi Gerhard,

There will be a Multiflex theme for WordPress with or without the drop downs. I would like to keep them, they are good ;-) …and most users want more than one level of pages including myself as I will probably use the theme on my site once it is ready.

I can handle the complexity that is not a problem. The limitations of the WordPress pages code is the problem and how to get it to output code like yours.

I will do a Dutch translation as soon as the theme is ready for testing.

Hello, I tried customizing multiflex-3 for my homepage (in German) and it worked quite fine. The only problem ist, that I had to manipulate the template-xyz.php files in the WordPress wp-includes directory. That is OK for me as I don’t want to use any other theme.

Well, but when I thought about updating my old version of WordPress I recognized that my solution wasn’t the best at all, because now I have to change all the files again. :/

Ergo: I would be glad to get some hints from the design of your multiflex-3 theme. ;)
