Check Your Plugins This New Year!

Most of us that use WordPress will use a few plugins and some will use more than others. Probably one thing we all do is take them for granted and never give them a second though.

On this subject comes some good advice comes from the Weblg Tools Collection about giving them a good tidy up this New Year.

Read the full post here on Weblog Tools Collection: Check your Plugins this New Year.

[edit] I took the advice myself and deleted about a dozen plugins and updated 3 others. Just goes to show how the cruft can build up!

I recently switched to wordpress, I only have the default plugins but I can’t seem to activate them. I have a wordpress.com account and I used the API key given but it did not work. Anyway (late) Happy New Year!

You are limited on wordpress.com to what they give you. So you probably won’t be able to have plugins!

Nice to see you have made some themes for Thingamablog :-)

When I said I switched to wordpress, I didn’t mean wordpress.com. I was mereley talking about the akismet plugin for the wordpress software. The other plugins work fine.

I like your TAMB Themes too. :)

    Sorry I misunderstood you.

I had a similar problem with my host because they blocked outgoing http requests. Akismet needs to make outgoing requests to the Aksimet server and will reject the key if it is not allowed to make the requests. This could be the reason.

I used the Bad Behavior and Spam Karma plugins instead.

I like TAMB. If it had integrated comments then it would probably be my first choice.

Thanks for the help. TAMB is great but it lacks in a few places, I can’t wait to see what 2.0 turns out like.
