WP-Multiflex-3 News
WP-Multiflex-3 is doing really well and seems to be well liked, so far with over 500 downloads between here and the WordPress Theme Viewer up to now.
I have had loads of positive feedback and only 1 bug report about how long category names wrapped in the sidebar, which is now fixed with version 1.1.
And, of course Wolfgang deserves a lot of the credit for the great design.
I have also had several pledges for translations including German, Danish and Czech. The Czech translation is already available courtesy of Calaf - Download here.
There are a few plans for future updates including more colours (green, red, orange, brown and gray) and a colour switcher in the WordPress admin.
At the moment I am listening to what people would like to see included in WP-Multiflex-3, so if you have any request now is the time

@Ainslie, sounds like a good idea with colors. We could even extend that to provide not only further color options, but even alternative themes for the header backgrounds and logos (that is, other types of background graphics than are found in the default template now). Just an idea, in case the template should turn out to continue being popular.

Hi Ainslie, just wanted to let you know that the theme looks great on IE and Firefox but isn’t displaying well on Safari. Any ideas?
March 1st, 2007 at 8:10 am
Hello Ainslie,
First of all, congrats with the theme, great work! We are all very much in your debt!
I have one question and one remark for you if you don’t mind
1. I’m a Mac user and as Niranjan stated, it doesn’t display well in Safari.
2. I’m a php idiot and was wondering how to include the drop down navigation menu into the wordpress php. I’ve come up with a bit of a solution, but I would like to have it exactly as the rest of my site. (http://peterbrees.com/triblog)
Looking forward to the color options
Cheers,
Peter

Mmm, it was fine but maybe I broke it when I did the minor update. I will try and work it out

I’ve a problem with the right sidebar.
On the principal page, all is ok
But when I click on an article, there is a problem with my 1440/900 screen
look at this

LOOL!!!
Forget the precedent message!
I’ve just “relaunched” the widgets, and all is ok!
Sorry!!!!
March 1st, 2007 at 10:52 am
I’ve find the problem!!!
when you’re logged, all is OK
But when you’re not logged, the sidebars have a big proble!
March 1st, 2007 at 1:13 pm
Hang in there guys, I can’t look at the moment but will get onto it when I get home later.
I have a hunch where the problems are. It was fine, but I think I may have screwed things up when I made a few changes to the sidebar styling to make the colours easier to change.
At the moment I have to rely on screen shots to see how it looks in Safari, I need a Mac!

Awesome and structured theme! I’m testing it on http://www.f1racing.dk however, would really really like to have css drop down menus. Can that be done?
What about live search (not a must though)?
Best regards
Reinar

Pierre, There looks to be a missing div according to the validator. Either you have deleted one or something is hiding it!
Try retracing your steps with you metrics code or maybe what you have put in the sidebar. It looks like it just happens when on single.php so I would start looking there first.
March 1st, 2007 at 7:47 pm
The problem is fixed!
It was caused by a stray character in the style sheet. This little follow to be precise “`” what ever that is called. Looks a bit like an apostrophe with a slant.
I must have hit the key by mistake while working on the style sheet. It is amazing to think that someting so small could bring the theme down, but it did
To fix the problem all you need to do is download and just replace the old style sheet with the new.

I have the same problem as Pierre. The single.php breaks the code, but only when I`m not logged in. I disable the use of comment.php in single php and everything worked fine. I used the original single.php and style.css, but the problem continued. But only in IE7, not in FF2. Interesting that it works in Reinars blog with IE7. Maybe a widget breaks it?
Difficult to find a solution (www.christopolis.net), but maybe you can help.

Attention Marcel>>>>
Actually I had the problem as you know, but I chose to update/upgrade all of the php-files, activated the widgets again and then bingo!

I tried it, but it didn`t work.
March 2nd, 2007 at 11:42 pm
I’m not sure what is causing the problem at the moment, but both Marcel and Pierre have the same problem.
I think there is a closing div missing but I can’t see where. The original themes div’s seem to be ok so maybe something is opening a div but not closing it. I suspect an add-on widget.
It isn’t happening on all sites with the theme so I think it must be something added afterwards.
The only thing I can see that is common to both of you is the tag cloud. Which widget is that? I will give it a try.
March 3rd, 2007 at 8:36 am
I have disabled all widgets, but it still doesn`t work. It didn`t work before I installed the tag widget (witch I discovered at Pierres blog). But why does it work, when I don`t use comments.php?
March 3rd, 2007 at 9:08 am
Guys,
Not quite sure, but are there not missing an “” at the end of the Marcels’ last rightside widget (after the telephone number and before “?

Sorre let me try again. I think there are missing the end UL before the last DIV - in the last righside widget…

Marcel and Pierre,
I have emailed you a new file to fix the problem.
Sorry it took so long to fix!
It wasn’t an obvious problem but there was a conditional statement in the wrong place that chopped one of the closing divs off when you have set the option, users must be logged in to comment. The new file should fix the problem.

The theme is amazing! Widget supporting is so good, too. I have worked on it and modified a bit with some plugins and a header. In Firefox, it works perfect! but in IE, it is not good:( I will try to fix it. I am here to thank you for your perfect work. There are some problems but it’s gonna be ok
bye

Hi Ainsley,
The theme works amazingly and I’ve definitely got the hang of it now.
A small thing you may or may not have heard of before (if anyone have please let me know)… When updating one of the Widgets I get a Runtime Error Line: 313 ‘Draggables.drags[...] element.id’ is null or not an object - Any ideas?

Just curious, in the demo, I see the calendar. In my blog, no calendar appears in the side panel. Can someone direct a beginner on how to get this calendar to appear. Thanks.
March 7th, 2007 at 10:28 pm
@Reinar, Sorry not heard of that before. Maybe a JavaScript error?
@NickD, 2 ways:
a) Install Widgets and drag and drop where you want it.
b) Put this in your sidebar where you want the calendar,
< ?php get_calendar(); ?>
I think b should work without styling problems but let me know if not and I’ll try to help.
March 7th, 2007 at 11:00 pm
@ Reinar: Did you install a new plugin with a widget? Maybe this causes the error.
March 8th, 2007 at 2:23 am
Thank you Ainslie, once again for your assistance.
March 8th, 2007 at 2:28 am
Ok, just put it in the sidebar. The calendar appeared, but it did not match the look of the site. In the image of the demo, it has the beautiful blue frame around it….on mine, just a boring white calendar.
March 8th, 2007 at 9:27 am
@Marcel. Not that I recall. In the beginning I had some IE problems, but after re-activating the widgets everything seems fine. This problem however is only in - guess what - IE!
Actually I delete some old widgets which didn’t work. Maybe an error in the sql db…
March 10th, 2007 at 12:48 pm
Ainslie, is the a plug in for the little radio box at the bottom of this page which says “Receive an email if someone else comments on this post?” I like that feature, and would like to put that on my comments pages.
I still can’t get the calendar to look like the one in your demo. It just looks very plain and basic, with no blue frame around it. Thanks.
March 11th, 2007 at 11:03 am
NickyD,
I have sent you an email detailing how to do the calendar without the widgets and a link to the subscribe to comments plug-in.
March 11th, 2007 at 12:49 pm
Thank you. I will check it out.
March 12th, 2007 at 7:43 pm
I have tried to put an rss-feed into the sidebar, but it doesn’t work. Everytime I put “rss1″ into the sidebar and click “save changes” the “rss1″ button disappears. What can I do?
March 15th, 2007 at 4:14 pm
Why does my site look whacky?
1-Sidebar labels wrap poorly?
2-Nav bar has a small line under it that appears to be too short since the Nav button dividers extend below the gray area?
3-Bullets for sidebars are overlapping the verbiage.
4-When I click the “comment” button on my first post the whole right sidebar drops to the bottom of the post and the left sidebar headers get messed up.
Thanks to all
March 15th, 2007 at 4:52 pm
Okay - it would be best if I add the site name in the post so someone can tell me why it is whacky.

Hi Todd,
I have fixed those problems so try downloading the current version.
March 15th, 2007 at 7:16 pm
Sorry for another newbie comment, but which files do I upload to get the fix and not lose my content?
March 15th, 2007 at 8:55 pm
Okay I played around and uploaded the fix and find the following still not rendering properly.
1-Sidebar labels wrap poorly?
1a-Seems the longer ones cause the bullet to not display properly.
2-Nav bar has a small line under it that appears to be too short since the Nav button dividers extend below the gray area?
2a-This is still there - stops under the Audio Conferencing nav when it looks as if it should extend the full width of the page. either than or my Nav dividers are too long.
4-When I click the “comment” button on my first post the whole right sidebar drops to the bottom of the post and the left sidebar headers get messed up.
4a-still happening - not a big deal since I don’t expect comments.
4b-in fact since I’m not accepting comments how can I get the comment link to not display?
Thanks so much for a great theme and for patience with newbies like me.
Good luck on your exams.

Trying to be self serve here and I got #1 fixed by adjusting the font size and #4 fixed by disallowing comments at the post level
Still curious about #2 though
Sorry everyone for so many posts - I’m sooo new I’m not sure what the etiquette for this stuff is yet.

I think this is really a great theme! I’ve been playing around with colors, but it hasn’t been really succesful. So I would definitely look forward to different color schemes!
March 18th, 2007 at 10:53 pm
It’s a great theme; clear and pro looking.
Unfortunately I’m unable to display my blogroll on this theme. How can I solve that?
March 24th, 2007 at 3:57 am
Excellent theme, however I am having a few problems (it might just be because I’m new to CSS). I’m trying to extend the page to the width of the screen, but what this has done is move the left column and the center column to the left, leaving white space between the center and the right columns. I’ve spent about 30 minutes trying to fix it and I have had no success. Also, I’m trying to get rid of the automatically generated blog name and URL at the very top (I have an image that I have successfully uploaded, but it’s not at the very top, which is what I want). Any help?
Other than that, I love the look of it.

Awesome theme, I’d love to see a color picker that would let me find just the right “coffee” colors to use.
March 28th, 2007 at 6:42 pm
I installed this theme on my server after using the featured version on Wordpress. However, I am having difficulty in getting the color to show - where it should be red, it is gray. Help!

I cannot find the WP-MultiFlex Demo ? I love the Website Template (Multi-Flex) via OSW, now if I had the WP-Theme I’d be set.

Really great theme ainslie (and wolfgang), thanks for all your hard work.
I wondered if you or anyone else had an idea how to deal with “unbreakable” text, such as extended uri’s that bleed over past the comment borders? I’ve seen some workarounds in sidebar css, but haven’t been able to work it out for the main content.
April 21st, 2007 at 12:37 am
The only problem I’m having is that the RSS widget option in Sidebar Widgets doesn’t work. Even with a clean install on a subdomain with nothing else but Sidebar Widgets, it doesn’t work. It will give me the option, I enter the feed and then when I apply changes, it disappears from the options list below.
May 1st, 2007 at 9:15 pm
Love the theme. Having same problem as #46, Gideon, April 21st. RSS feeds don’t work in widgets.
Thanks for your awesome work!

Hi, I think your theme is great and works well for my site. I don’t know if I have done something wrong, but my blogroll isn’t showing up in either of the sidebars. I am not currently using the widgets because I don’t understand them just yet. Is there something I should add to the theme to show the blogroll and other links?
Thank you for a wonderful theme, it took me ages to find just the right one.
