On Reflection

If you have been here recently you no doubt will have heard that I’m supposed to be busy studying, and I am, but as they say all work and no play makes for a dull life so making a little time for a new post now and again seems as good a way of relaxing as any.

I didn’t post for most of last month and have being considering all my options as my studies seem bigger than anything else. I even went as far as considering giving up the site and offering it for sale! Those thoughts now seem to have gone but I am still not sure where I am going.

I can’t see me getting much time for themes and templates for the foreseeable future which is a real shame, as I probably enjoy that more than anything else. Occasionally wild thoughts creep in and I consider that web design work should become my number 1 priority and a full time job. Unfortunately I need the days job to pay the bills and it is not easy to give up the regular income. I have done quite a bit of paying work but it is time consuming and sporadic so that will have to take a back seat for the time being until my studies are over.

I’m not sure where I am going, but I think it’s going to have to have a little web design in it to keep me happy. Who knows, I may find the time to squeeze out the odd template.

It’s very hard to leave a secure job trying with a different way to earn. Though actually you could earn enough with templates, it couldn’t be the same in ten years. I think it’s better to keep the both!

It is hard, i think your best bet is to try and build up your webdesign work in your spare time, it will me working long hours, once you’ve built up a reasonable client base and you’ve saved all the income (you are saving it right! ;-)) you earnt in your spare time, this will give you a little buffer so you can give up the day job and still have the bills covered.

Studying comes first before everything else, education will matter for the rest of your life, blogging and designing wont (unless you make money from it), which can come in handy in the rainy days.

You don’t have to sell your site, it’s always there for you, and you can put it on hold anytime.

I was checking the site out for some themes and I noticed this post. One thing I’ve found is that sometimes you really can’t guess where you’ll be in another two, three or five years. Do not give up your site. Things may change for you and having the site well established is a nice feather in your quill (I think that the right term). In the future and you might have more time to ramp up the design work. Good luck and think long term.

    HELP!!!!!

I’ve gone and done something to my site. Seems that when I tried to put a calendar widget in I overwrote the login fields and all the widgets on the right column. Poof! all is gone.

HELP! How do I login to my site so I can undo this and get back to editing?

How can I add widgets to the columns without over-writing them in the future?

    Thanks for any quick reponses.

Disregard. Someone on Wordpress.org gave me the answer.
