Where Now?
Yet again it’s been a while since I last posted and I’m starting to feel a little embarrassed by my lack of updates. At the moment I’m lucky to post once a month!
I don’t want this to be yet another apologetic post for not posting, so maybe a little discussion of what could happen would be better.
In fact I’ve been giving the future of this website quite a bit of thought recently. I’ve never really been happy just abandoning it while I do my studies but the problem is my studies take up most of my spare time so there is little time left for blogging. There is certainly no time for web design or WordPress themes either at the moment. And, if that wasn’t enough, there’s that little thing called work that also seems to get in the way! So there you have it - I’ve no time and too busy to blog / design / make themes etc.
The other problem is that I’ve also lost a lot of the enthusiasm I used to have for blogging due to being so busy with other things. The question has got to be, what do I do with this site? Here’s a list of some things I’ve considered:
- Ignore it and hope it goes away
- Delete it and start again. Yes all of it, themes and all!
- Sell it.
- Change topic.
I’m not sure what will work. I think the root of the problem is that I have lost a lot of the enthusiasm for blogging and I am too busy to be bothered a lot of the time. On the other hand I don’t want to see it all thrown away.
Anybody got any advice or ideas?

IMHO the best choice would be to keep on blogging and designing themes; but if every-day problems take the major part of your free time you could sell it.
(In that case I’d like to buy it! I would also keep your design online)
PS: I recently translated in italian Multiflex 3.

I eventually will get time but it will probably be in 12 months. Maybe then I will have time to design but I doubt I will do much more theme work.
Sell it… I don’t know, let me think about that

If you don’t make blogging a full time job, the quality of posts should be more important than quantity.
Your themes are very useful to users worldwide. So the worst thing you can do is to shut down the whole blog.
Just post when you really want to, even if there are months between your posts.

Hi Tim,
I don’t think I will shut down the site. I was just talking about options that I could do.
Sooner or later I may well get the urge to make some more themes. I just need to get my studies out of the way first.

I think selling it to someone who could continue to release themes would be a good idea. You could of course earn a whole lot from selling to a advertising company. But I guess that people are still coming here looking for themes and updates, and then it would be nice to keep the site running.
I have thought about selling my site as well just to get a fresh start and build something new. But it is seriously difficult to sell a personal website on a domain tied to my name so I’m stuck with it. You are not, so if you don’t have the time and motivation to continue - go for new adventures! If you ever return to themes and blogging, there are plenty of ways to get back into the spotlight again.

Thanks for your opinion Andreas. I am definitely not going to sell the site.
I may not have the time and enthusiasm at the moment but this is because my studies are taking all my time. By this time next year my studies will be finished and I will have time to do other things once again.

To keep interest and people coming back, you could do one simple thing. Post about an interesting theme that someone else has developed or post about a cool plugin that is useful. I am sure that if you made a post asking for suggestions and said you would highlight some of the good ones here, you could get many leads on great ones to put up.
This would definitely keep you in the theme/web design business and keep this site relevant for the foreseeable future. The reason why I surfed here today is because I wanted to see some new theme designs and I love just about everyone of yours, but just looking for something new.
You might want to add some Google ads as well. I am sure no one would really take offense to them at all and collecting the obviously decent amount of revenue you’d get, it might just be a little push to putting in a few hours a month to do the postings I mention above.
