About

Webgazette.co.uk was created in the summer of 2004 as a project for a web design course that I was taking. Since then, it has been a playground for me to try out new things and has undergone change after change, hence the site description, “Change is the only constant”. I didn’t originally intend this site to become a blog but somewhere along the way I got interested in blogs and blogging and that is how it remains to this day.

The first 12 months saw the most change as Webgazette.co.uk served as a testing ground for trying out many different blog and content management systems, including Textpattern, WordPress, Drupal, Xoops, Thingamablog, B2Evolution, Nucleus, Mambo, Blog and probably more that I have forgotten. While this can’t be recommended for building the number of visitors, it has given me a good experience of working with a wide range of different systems.

More recently things have settled down, so that now there is less change and I am starting, at last, to build a steady flow of visitors. This is partly due to concentrating on making blog themes rather than destroying the site every few weeks.

I originally started making themes for Textpattern, but these early attempts were less than successful and never became public. Next I tried my hand at Thingamablog themes, with some sucess and I now have a small collection of themes available for download. Recently I have started to make WordPress themes that so far have been well received.

So far none of the themes that I have made available have been my own design and have mainly featured the design skills of Andreas Viklund. Soon I hope to be able to add some of my own designs to this collection and hopefully also add some web site templates of my own design.

It has proved to be an interesting journey, and I have learnt more than I ever expected. I don’t know what the future holds but I do hope to keep adding to Webgazette.co.uk and build it into something of value. Most of the content will revolve around my experiences of learning about web design and the projects I am working on. Hopefully you will find something of interest hidden here amongst the ever growing collection of words.

Thank you for visiting, please come again soon. :-)
