Perfect Graduation Party
You don’t get to graduate every day, so it is necessary that you follow the decades’ old tradition of partying after graduation. Wearing the graduation cap and the black gown gives you lots of happiness, but it is after the graduation ceremony that you realize your joy is incomplete without some celebrations. Back when I was in college, I had planned my graduation party literally before I had actually passed out. Such was my excitement!
Now, you cannot just think of throwing a party without any prior planning. After all, it is your special day. In this article, I will share with you some really cool tips on how to plan the perfect graduation party that no one would ever forget:
1. Decide what kind of a party you want to give:
Are you interested in a formal dinner indoors with just your close friends and family or do you want a full-of-fun late night barbecue in your backyard with your squad? Of course it is the latter – Why did I even ask?
2. Decide your budget:
The next thing you would do is to decide how much you can spend on the party. You don’t want to end up being unable to pay for something later. Keep a keen eye on your budget and stay within that.
3. Who’s coming? Who’s not?
Take a pen and a paper and write down the names of the guests you would like to invite on your graduation party. Don’t just stop and add the names of the guests you wouldn’t like to invite, but you’re too nice to ignore them. Too many guests? Start cutting off names you can do without.
4. Spread the word!
How do you do that? Well, that totally depends on you. I, personally, like sending out invitations the old way. I made these little cards with my friend’s help and asked him to drop them on every guest’s doorstep. He was more than happy to do it. If that is too much for you, what are phones for? Additionally, you can invite all of them through Facebook. Everyone is on it, right?
What would you call a party without any entertainment? Definitely not “A Party!!!” Music is mandatory. Make sure your iPod is ready with some latest tunes.
Party games can’t be ignored. Musical Chair never gets old and everybody loves it! You should definitely have that. Don’t forget Twisters and Charades! I love Charades. You could also buy some board games from the market just for the day. Ask your friends what games they’d be interested in.
I go to parties for food mostly and so I assume everyone else has the same ambitions. You just cannot compromise on food! Make sure a significant amount of your budget goes into food. On parties like these, you cannot have all the guests sit down and dine on some fancy food. Finger food catering by Flavours Catering is what you need.
7. Don’t forget the decorations:
A party doesn’t feel like a party if there are no decorations. I am a bubbly person, so I used balloons and ribbons to decorate my backyard. It looked more like a birthday party, but it was beautiful. Plus, I believe graduation is like a second birthday.
You can even choose a theme and decorate the venue according to that. To add more fun, you can ask your friends to dress up according to the theme that you have chosen.
8. Share the party with your fellow graduate:
Well, I didn’t do that – I was rich. But if you aren’t, don’t fret! You’ve just graduated – You will be that, one day!
Anyway, you can ask your friend who has graduated with you to have a joint graduation party with you. This way you can have a bigger party with more fun and a budget that you both can contribute to!
